Contrary to the many negative reviews out there, I have to say that I enjoyed this latest work of literary fiction by Paulo Coelho. Not his usual style, but a good read nonetheless. A great book for a weekend read.
Paulo Coelho’s ‘Adultery’ is all about a woman (Linda) who has a perfect life, a loving husband and children, a great career, friends et al. On her journey to self-discovery, with the hope to finding happiness, Linda is tempted by the idea and eventually does commit adultery. Why would one want to jeopardize a perfect life, you’d wonder?
Coelho digs deep down and brings to the surface the various emotions that engulf us and how we are, at some point or the other in our lives, forced to make life-changing decisions. I believe, that unless you’ve gone through and experienced an emotional roller coaster ride, you’ll find it difficult to get your head around this book.
I do recommend this book to anyone who has been reading Coelho’s works and for those of you who are brave enough to put the negative reviews aside and make an informed decision once you’ve read the book.
