Mission Burrito Launch – Highcross, Leicester

Yesterday, June 23, 2015 Mission Burrito gave away 500 Free Burritos to celebrate their launch in Leicester’s famous Highcross Shopping Centre. The giveaway was from 12pm to 3pm. Being the foodie that I am, how could I resist! Besides, would you really resist the temptation of a free burrito? I didn’t think so too. So I made my way to the Highcross food court in St. Peter’s Square and met up with my friend, Steff.

Here’s a photo she took while she was waiting for me.

Luckily we decided to get there a little before noon and we managed to avoid the ever growing queue.

So, within ten minutes of getting in the queue, we got ourselves our free burritos.

    Our first impressions?

“Whoa, they’re huge! Are we really going to go through all that in one sitting?”

The 500 Burritos Giveaway was for the burritos obviously. But we had a choice of chicken, pork, beef or veg. We both decided to go with the pork. And it was worth it! Being lactose intolerant, I was glad to be able to choose a no-cheese filling, and opted for black beans, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, guacamole, jalapeños and of course my go-to sauce, which will always be Habanero Salsa (if that’s on the menu). Steff decided to go for the milder Pico De Gallo. You can have a peek at their menu here.

Final Verdict:

Mission-Burrito-buzzingtrends-10“Delicious and scrummy burritos, totally worth it. I’ll definitely be back for more on one of our many lunch breaks while working out of the house. Keen to try out the other items on the menu” – Juliana

Mission-Burrito-buzzingtrends-11“They were really delicious, the regular was too big to hold and bigger than my face, which was great – as I had some left overs to take home for a mid-afternoon snack. Will definitely be back as I want to try the Tacos next.” – Steff

If you didn’t get to make it down to Mission Burrito for their launch or if you were the 501st in queue, then you missed out on a great lunchtime treat. So if you’re heading into town and looking for somewhere to eat, then head over to Mission Burrito, you won’t be disappointed.

If you’re one of the lucky 500 who got their hands on these burritos, feel free to share your experiences and thoughts in the comment box below or you can Tweet your experiences and thoughts. And, don’t forget to ‘Like’ and ‘Share’ this post with your family and friends.
